London HIV clinic users engagement exercise
Duration: December 2011 - May 2012
As part of a larger review of HIV services in London, the London Specialised Commissioning Group (SCG) has commissioned Sigma Research to investigate the views of people with diagnosed HIV (PWHIV) about the clinical HIV services provided to them. The research will consist of a survey and qualitative focus groups.
The self-completion survey will be administered in all the 28 specialist HIV clinics in Greater London by dedicated fieldworkers. The survey will also be available online, promoted by London advocacy and AIDS service organisations. The survey will cover: demographics, current service use, (HIV services, other clinical services and primary care services), motivations for service choice, aspirations for service development and how well overall care is managed. In addition, the survey will investigate broader social care needs. Sampling and recruitment will be controlled to ensure a sample broadly representative of the population of PWHIV using clinical services in London and ensure representation from all 28 London clinics. Focus groups with key groups of people with HIV will investigate in more detail motivations for service use, satisfaction with services and aspirations and suggestions for service development.
Funded by the London Specialised Commissioning Group the research will be conducted between December 2011 and May 2012. Survey and qualitative fieldwork will take place between February and April and a full public report will be available in June 2012.
All data collected will be bound by the confidentiality policy of Sigma Research.
ETHICS APPROVAL: The project has been approved by the Ethics Committee of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
