Confidentiality policy

Sigma Research takes its responsibilities regarding the protection of personal privacy very seriously. Any personal data that you are asked to reveal will be held and processed in accordance with the requirements of the 1998 Data Protection Act.

If you wish to contact Sigma Research in order to check or amend your details, or to request the deletion of that data, please email . Respondent details and data gained from our surveys, interviews and focus groups are never passed on to third parties under any circumstances. All such information is maintained and disposed of in a secure fashion. We only use participant information for the purposes of research, and the details of each research project can be found on our website.

In those instances where contact details are collected for the purpose of arranging interviews, these details are only held by Sigma Research for as long as is required by the period of research, and they are also kept separate from the sensitive data given by participants.

Briefly, the key principles of the Data Protection Act (1998) stipulate that all personal and sensitive information will be:

  1. used in a way that is fair and lawful
  2. used for limited purposes
  3. adequate, relevant and not excessive
  4. accurate
  5. not kept longer than necessary
  6. used in accordance with the data subject's rights
  7. secure
  8. not transferred to countries without adequate protection

In accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998), the results of our research are never made available in a form that would identify individual respondents, nor is our data processed in such a way that would cause substantial damage or distress to any participant.
